Description

The Carmanne is a ring pendant light: a slim bronze ring with a white plastic diffuser running round its top and inner edge, hung on three fine wires from a round black ceiling canopy. The body is aluminium and steel, the ring is 48cm across, and the light is 110cm high overall. Inside sits an integrated LED of 20W giving 1,600lm, so there are no bulbs to buy or change. Its IP20 rating settles where it goes: indoors, in dry rooms, away from bathrooms and the garden.

Hung over a coffee table or a dining table, it gives a room a soft ring of light, and the white diffuser spreads the glow evenly round the whole circle rather than into one bright point. It suits a living room, a dining room or a bedroom, anywhere dry that wants good general light from a single fitting. The adjustable colour temperature is where it earns its keep: warm 2700K for a relaxed evening, cool 6500K for reading, homework or a busy kitchen table. The bronze and black finish sits comfortably against warm wood, deep greens and darker walls, and the black canopy keeps the ceiling end neat and discreet.

Its remote control comes in the box and controls the light: the LED is dimmable, and the colour temperature adjusts across the full warm to cool range. The remote takes a CR2032 battery. There is no switch on the fitting itself, since it is switched at the wall, so the wall switch powers it and the remote does the rest. As a mains light wired into the ceiling, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Packed, it weighs 2.243KG.
