Description

A 200ml reed diffuser in a hand blown recycled glass vessel, 13cm tall and 10cm across at its widest, with a rounded body that draws in sharply to a short straight neck and a rolled rim. The glass is finished in Aged Smoke: a crusted, pitted silver white across the lower half, shading up through translucent grey to the rim, with the texture heaviest where the body meets the base. Six reeds come with it, and the oil is bottled separately to be poured in.

At 13cm tall and 10cm across the vessel takes a hall table, a bathroom shelf or the corner of a desk without crowding it. It wants a plate or a mat underneath, because the reeds saturate over time and liquid runs back down them, and it wants clear air around it, since the oil marks painted and delicate surfaces where a reed rests against them. Warmth, direct sunlight and a draught all pull the scent through faster, so a cool spot out of the sun makes a bottle last longer. The scent reaches the room 24 to 36 hours after filling.

The vessel is hand blown from recycled glass in India, so the crust and the run of colour differ from one to the next. The oil is a bespoke blend, hand filled and packed in the UK by a family run business, and carries natural essential oils including cumin, palmarosa, patchouli, cardamom, carrot and nutmeg over notes of sandalwood, cedarwood and amber. A filled diffuser lasts between two and four months, and the vessel is made to be kept and used as a small vase afterwards. The same 200ml diffuser is made in five other scents.
