Description

The Caprice is a 200mm square wall light built around a curved frosted glass panel held by two polished chrome brackets at top and bottom. A single E14 bulb fitting sits behind the glass, casting light through the frosted surface and the embossed spiral pattern pressed into the face of the panel.

Designed for hallways, landings, bedrooms and living rooms where ambient rather than task lighting is needed, the Caprice provides soft wash light across adjacent wall surfaces without glare. The 100mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting clear of door frames and furniture edges. The frosted glass hides the bulb from direct view at any angle, so the light source itself does not create hotspots or reflections in mirrors or glass surfaces nearby.

The curved glass panel wraps slightly around the chrome brackets, giving the fitting depth and a three-dimensional profile that changes appearance depending on viewing angle. The polished chrome finish pairs cleanly with modern chrome door furniture, curtain poles and radiator valves, while the frosted white glass works in both cool-toned and warm-toned interiors. The embossed spiral pattern becomes more visible when the light is switched on, as the raised sections cast shallow shadows within the diffused glow.

The fitting takes a single E14 small Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose a warm-white LED candle or golf ball bulb at 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for ambient room lighting.

The Caprice itself is dimmable-compatible when paired with a dimmable E14 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. LED bulbs vary in dimmer performance, so check the bulb specification before pairing with older dimmer models.

How is the glass panel cleaned?

The frosted glass can be wiped with a soft microfibre cloth and glass cleaner or soapy water. The embossed spiral pattern may trap dust in the recesses, so a dry soft-bristle brush is useful for reaching into the detail before wiping the surface clean.

What fixing method does it use?

The Caprice mounts to a standard UK back plate using two screws. The back plate is typically fixed to the wall first, and the fitting clips or screws onto it once the wiring is connected. Suitable for brick, plaster and plasterboard with appropriate wall plugs.
