Capoliveri-E Linear Pendant Light - Black

The Capoliveri-E is a linear pendant light built from steel in a black finish, with a row of bare E27 lampholders set along a slim horizontal bar. The bar hangs on fine cables from a rectangular ceiling plate, so the whole fitting reads as a clean, graphic line rather than a cluster of shades. It measures 100.5cm long, 6cm wide and 110cm tall overall, and weighs 1.6KG. Bulbs are not included, which leaves the choice of lamp entirely yours. Its IP20 rating settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

Its long, narrow shape makes it a natural partner for a dining table, a kitchen island or a breakfast bar, where a lone pendant would leave the ends of the surface in shadow. With the lampholders spread along the bar, the light is shared out along the table rather than pooled in the centre. The open lampholders suit an industrial or loft-style scheme, and they come into their own with decorative filament bulbs, which make the lamps themselves part of the look. In an open-plan living space it also helps mark out the dining area without building a wall.

The steel body carries a black finish that sits comfortably against white, grey or timber ceilings, and it suits black window frames, tapware and cabinet handles in a modern kitchen. There is no switch on the fitting; it is switched at the wall, so it runs from your room's light switch. No. It is rated IP20, which means it belongs indoors in a dry room, so we would not place it in a bathroom or outdoors.
