Description
We stock the Calipso as a directional wall light in a warm brass finish. It is built around a vertically fluted aluminium cylinder on a matching circular backplate, with a single GU10 fitting (bulb sold separately) that aims light down through the open base. The result is a focused pool on the wall rather than a broad wash, and the ribbed body catches the light in soft bands of highlight and shadow.
We reach for this one in hallways, on stairwells, in alcoves and beside the bed, anywhere you want directed light without a ceiling fixing. Mounted around 1400 to 1600mm from the floor it works nicely as bedside reading light, and the downward throw of the GU10 also suits highlighting a picture, a shelf or an architectural detail. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, so keep it away from covered outdoor spots.
The body is aluminium, so it stays light but rigid, and the vertical ribbing adds a little structure as well as the geometric look. The GU10 holder takes a bulb up to 10W (sold separately), letting you pick the brightness and colour temperature that suit the room. It runs on standard 220 to 240V mains at 50Hz and is not dimmable, so it gives a steady, consistent output whenever it is switched on.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take, and is one included?
It takes a single GU10 bulb up to 10W, which is sold separately so you can choose your own brightness and colour temperature. Fitting a GU10 is a simple push-and-twist, no separate driver needed.
Is it dimmable?
The wall light itself is not dimmable. If you want dimming you would need a dimmable GU10 bulb paired with a compatible dimmer switch, both sold separately.
Where can I safely fit it?
It is IP20 rated for dry indoor rooms, so it is ideal for hallways, bedrooms, stairwells and alcoves. We would not use it in a bathroom or anywhere exposed to moisture or the weather.
Which way does the light point?
The GU10 sits inside the fluted cylinder and directs the light downward through the open base, giving a focused pool on the wall below rather than an even spread. That makes it good for bedside reading or picking out art and shelves.
