Description

We stock the Calipso in white as a two-light wall fitting built around a fluted aluminium cylinder on a circular white wall plate. The ribbed tube holds two GU10 fittings, one aimed up and one aimed down, so light spills from the open top and bottom to wash the wall above and below. The vertical ridges catch that light and add texture, and the white powder-coated finish sits quietly against both light and dark wall colours.

It suits hallways, staircases, feature walls and gallery-style corners where a run of ceiling light needs a bit of vertical accent. Because the two fittings throw light in opposite directions, a pair or a row reads as an even rhythm of up-and-down washes rather than flat pools. The IP20 rating keeps it to dry indoor spaces, so we would keep it away from bathrooms and anywhere it might get splashed.

Each of the two GU10 sockets takes a standard LED or halogen bulb up to 10W, and bulbs are sold separately so you can pick the colour temperature and beam you want. It runs on 220 to 240V mains at 50Hz and is not dimmable, so we would pair it with a standard switch rather than a dimmer. The body is aluminium throughout, which keeps it light on the wall and easy to wipe clean.

It takes two GU10 bulbs, one for the upward socket and one for the downward socket, each up to 10W. Standard LED or halogen GU10s both fit, and bulbs are sold separately so you can choose your own colour temperature.

Is it dimmable?

No. This Calipso is not dimmable, so we would wire it to a standard on/off switch. If you want to vary the level in the room, a separate dimmable fitting on the same circuit is the better route.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which is for dry interior spaces only, so it is not suitable for bathrooms or anywhere exposed to moisture. It is a good fit for hallways, staircases and feature walls indoors.

How is it fixed and what is included?

The cylinder mounts on a circular white wall plate that fixes to the wall over your mains connection, and it should be installed by a qualified electrician. You receive the white aluminium fitting; the two GU10 bulbs are not included.
