Description

We stock the Calipso 2 Light in brass as a fluted twin wall light for a plain interior wall. It is built around cylindrical aluminium shades with vertical ribbing running the full height of each cylinder, held perpendicular to the wall on a brass plate. Each fitting takes GU10 bulbs up to 10W in total (sold separately), and the light source sits at the base of the cylinder behind a black diffuser so the throw is directed downwards through the open base.

We think it works best in a hallway, either side of a bed, or as accent lighting in a living room, doing decorative and practical wash lighting at the same time. The fluted cylinders draw vertical shadow lines onto the adjacent wall when lit, giving a plain surface some texture, and the downward throw suits highlighting wall-hung art below the fitting or reading light above a bedside table. The brass finish shows a warm metallic tone that varies slightly across the ribs, as each one catches the light differently.

The Calipso is rated IP20, so we would keep it to dry interior spaces away from bathrooms and outdoor exposure. It runs on mains voltage (50Hz AC 220-240V) and is not dimmable, so we would pair it with standard non-dimming GU10 bulbs. The housing is aluminium, which keeps the fitting light on the wall, and the two lamps run to 10W in total.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does it take?

It takes GU10 bulbs, up to 10W across the two lamps in total. Bulbs are sold separately, so you can pick the colour temperature that suits the room.

Is it dimmable?

No. The Calipso is not dimmable, so we would run it with standard non-dimming GU10 bulbs on a normal switch rather than a dimmer.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 for dry interior spaces, so we would keep it to hallways, bedrooms and living rooms and away from bathrooms or anywhere outdoors.

Which way does the light point?

The light source sits at the base of each cylinder behind a black diffuser, so the throw is directed downwards through the open base. That makes it a good fit above a bedside table or over wall-hung art.
