Description

Calco White Round is a sculpted wall mirror 73cm high by 72cm wide, with two moulded forms set against the glass at opposite sides and finished by hand in white. The brush marks are left visible in the surface, which is the difference between this and a sprayed finish, and the forms read as though they are holding the mirror rather than framing it. The glass is asymmetric and organically shaped, cut by machine to a profile the moulded pieces interrupt. The design is by Esther Everaert.

At 73cm it suits a smaller wall: a cloakroom, the space beside a door, above a narrow console, or grouped with the other sizes and the gold finish the design is made in. It turns on its fixing, so the two forms can sit horizontally, vertically or anywhere between, and moving them changes the composition rather than just levelling it. It is not rated for bathroom use, so keep it to dry rooms. At 6kg it is light for its 7cm depth and easy to hang alone, with two screws, washers and plugs supplied and nothing to assemble. Because the finish is applied by hand no two are identical.

The mirror is mirrored glass with a moulded synthetic frame in a hand applied white finish. The moulded pieces are cast in polyurethane, exacting work because the smallest flaw in a mould shows on the finished surface. Clean the glass with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth and dust the white forms dry rather than wiping them wet, since the texture holds moisture. Seven year warranty, made in Belgium.
