Description
Calco White Hall is a full length wall mirror, 166cm high by 64cm wide, with an asymmetric glass and two moulded white forms set against it, one high on one side and one low on the other. The forms read as though they are holding the mirror in place. They are cast in polyurethane and then finished by hand, and the brush marks are left visible, so the smooth glass and the worked surface sit directly against one another. Calco is Italian for mould. The design is by Esther Everaert.
The asymmetry is the reason to give it a wall of its own rather than centring it over furniture. It hangs in four directions, and turning it moves the two forms to opposite corners, which changes the piece more than rotating a symmetrical mirror ever does: it is worth holding it against the wall both ways before marking. At 7cm deep it stands well off the surface and throws a shadow that is part of the effect, so a wall that catches side light suits it. Two screws with washers and plugs are supplied and nothing needs assembling. At 11kg it is a one person lift. It is not rated for bathroom use, so keep it to dry rooms. The range runs to two finishes and three sizes if a pair or a group is wanted.
The glass is mirrored glass and the forms are a synthetic frame with a hand applied finish. Clean the glass with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth, and dust the white forms with a dry brush rather than working a damp cloth into the texture. Seven year warranty, made in Belgium.

Frequently Asked
What are the two white shapes made of?
Polyurethane, cast in a mould and then finished by hand, which is why the brush marks are visible.
How many directions does it hang in?
Four. Turning it moves the two forms to opposite corners, so it is worth trying both ways first.
How far does it stand off the wall?
7cm, and the shadow that depth throws is part of the design.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
No. It is not rated for bathroom use, so keep it to dry rooms.
Are other sizes made?
Yes. The range runs to two finishes and three sizes.
