Bulciago Smoked Glass Linear Pendant Light - Black

The Bulciago is a linear pendant light: a long black steel ceiling bar with three jar-shaped smoked glass shades hanging from slim black cords. Each shade is vaporised glass, smoky at the top and fading to clear towards the base, so a bulb inside shows as a soft glow through the lower half. It measures 126cm long, 25cm wide and 150cm tall overall. Each shade takes an E27 bulb of up to 40W, and bulbs are not included, so you choose the colour of light and the style of filament yourself. With an IP20 rating it belongs indoors in a dry room, never a bathroom or a porch.

A row of three pendants is made for a long surface, and at 126cm long this one sits comfortably over a dining table, a kitchen island or a breakfast bar. It works as well over a sideboard in a living room, where the smoked glass softens the light for a calm evening. The black steel bar and the grey tint of the glass suit a monochrome scheme, an industrial kitchen or a room with dark joinery, and the clear lower edge of each shade stops the look from feeling heavy. Because it is switched at the wall, it runs from the switch you already have, so there is no pull cord or inline switch on the cords.

The body is steel in a black finish, and the shades are vaporised glass in a black-transparent colour that reads as smoke above and clear glass at the rim. Being a wired mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. It weighs 9.012KG packed. Glass wipes clean with a soft, dry cloth, and E27 is the standard large screw cap, so replacement bulbs are easy to find whenever one needs changing.

Can this pendant light go in a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which means indoors and dry, so we suggest a dining room, kitchen or living room rather than a bathroom or anywhere outdoors.

Which bulbs does it take?

Each of the three shades takes an E27 screw cap bulb of up to 40W. Bulbs are not included, so you can choose your own.

How big is the Bulciago pendant?

It is 126cm long, 25cm wide and 150cm tall overall, which suits a dining table, kitchen island or breakfast bar of a good length.

What colour is the glass?

The vaporised glass is smoky at the top and fades to clear towards the base, with the shade colour given as black-transparent against a black steel bar.

How is the light switched?

It has no switch of its own. It is switched at the wall, so the light switch already in your room controls it.

What material is the ceiling bar?

The ceiling bar and body are steel in a black finish, which pairs with the smoked glass shades for a crisp monochrome look.
