Description
The BTL is a track-mounted LED head delivering 38W and 3800 lumens of warm 3000K light, with an adjustable beam that tightens from 15 to 45 degrees. North American buyers will know this format as track lighting too, where it remains one of the most-searched ways to run several aimed heads from a single circuit. The narrow-to-medium beam lets each head be pointed precisely, so the light lands where it is wanted rather than spilling flatly across a room. A high Ra 90 colour rendering keeps tones accurate, which suits work that depends on seeing colour and texture honestly.
The adjustable beam makes the BTL well suited to retail displays, galleries, kitchens and open-plan living areas where individual zones need their own emphasis. Tightened toward 15 degrees it throws a concentrated pool onto artwork, a feature wall or a counter; opened toward 45 degrees it washes a wider area for general task light. Because it is a track fitting it is meant for indoor ceilings only, with its IP20 rating keeping it to dry interior spaces away from damp or outdoor positions. Several heads can be spaced along one run and angled independently, so the scheme can be re-aimed as a display or layout changes without rewiring.
Built from aluminium alloy in a black finish, the BTL clips onto the track and locks at the chosen angle, drawing power directly from the conductors in the rail. It runs on 220-240V AC and is rated for 50,000 hours, with each head weighing 788g. This version is not dimmable, so brightness is set by how many heads are fitted and where they are aimed. Confirm whether your existing rail is single-circuit or three-phase before ordering, as the head must match the track type. Other beam and colour-temperature options sit within the wider BTL range we stock for building out a full run.

Frequently Asked
What is track lighting and how does it work?
Track lighting uses a powered rail fixed to the ceiling, onto which individual heads like the BTL clip and draw their supply directly from the track. Each head can be positioned anywhere along the rail and aimed separately, so you can build a line of directional lights from one connection point. It is a flexible way to light several zones or features without running separate wiring to each fitting.
Can I add or move the heads as my layout changes?
Yes. The BTL clips onto the track and can be slid along the rail and re-angled at any time, so heads can be added, removed or repositioned as a display or room layout changes. This makes it well suited to retail and gallery settings where the focus shifts regularly. Just make sure the total load stays within the track circuit's rating.
What track does this fitting need?
The BTL is a track-mounted head and must match the rail it clips into, which may be single-circuit or three-phase. Check which system your existing track uses before ordering, as the head adapter has to suit the conductor arrangement in the rail. If you are starting from scratch, choose the track type first and fit matching heads to it.
Can the BTL be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. It carries an IP20 rating, which covers dry indoor use only, so keep it clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor or sheltered-outdoor position. It is designed for interior ceilings such as kitchens, living spaces, retail and gallery interiors. For wet or exposed locations you would need a fitting with a much higher IP rating.
