Brisbin 1 Light Pendant - Matte White

The Brisbin is a 457mm pendant light built around three concentric metal shades stacked in tiers, each painted matte white on both exterior and interior surfaces. A single E27 bulb fitting sits at the centre of the lowest tier, casting light upwards and downwards through the gaps between the shades. The light bounces off the white-painted interiors and diffuses through the layered geometry, producing ambient rather than directional illumination.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and living room corners where soft overhead light is preferred to focused task lighting, the Brisbin works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. The adjustable drop ranges from 397mm to 1617mm on installation, allowing the pendant to be positioned 700-900mm above a dining surface or worktop depending on ceiling height. The white cable runs through the centre of the canopy, keeping the installation clean.

The matte white finish across all three tiers gives the pendant a Scandinavian mid-century character that pairs with pale timber furniture, white walls and monochrome interiors. The 457mm diameter makes the fitting substantial enough to anchor a 1.6-2m dining table or kitchen island without dominating smaller rooms. The tiered shade construction at 206mm fitting height adds sculptural depth when viewed from the side while maintaining a relatively low profile from below.

What bulb does the Brisbin take?

The pendant takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to produce soft ambient light through the layered shades.

How is the drop length adjusted?

The cable drop is adjustable on installation between 397mm and 1617mm. The electrician sets the final drop during fitting by shortening the cable inside the canopy. Once installed, the drop cannot be altered without removing the canopy and re-wiring.

What ceiling height is needed?

For use above a dining table or kitchen island, the pendant typically hangs 700-900mm above the surface, which requires a ceiling height of at least 2.4m with the minimum 397mm drop. Higher ceilings can use the extended cable drop to maintain the same working height.

Is the light directed or diffused?

The light is diffused. The single E27 bulb at the centre casts light up and down through the gaps between the three white metal shades. The matte white interior surfaces reflect and scatter the light, producing ambient illumination rather than a focused beam.
