Description
Brisalda threads nine faceted stones of natural Spanish alabaster onto a single vertical drop, each carved to a soft hexagonal profile and separated from the next by a small turned brass sphere. The stones measure 100mm across and the drop falls 1085mm from a round brushed brass ceiling canopy. It is the same stone used on the Brisalda wall lights, hung rather than mounted, so a room can carry both without either looking borrowed from elsewhere.
An integrated LED runs to 25W at 3000K, a warm white close to the colour of a filament lamp. Every stone is lit from within, so what hangs is a line of nine separate points of light rather than one bright source, and the effect stays comfortable at eye level. Past a metre the drop starts to work as a vertical line in its own right, which is what makes it useful in a stairwell or against the full height of a double height wall.
The metalwork is solid copper in a brushed brass finish and the canopy is the same brass, so the drop reads as one piece from ceiling to lowest stone. Every stone is cut from natural Spanish alabaster and the veining runs differently through each one, so no two drops are alike. The fitting is rated IP20 for interior use. Brisalda runs to seven, eight and ten stone drops in the same range, and as a three, five or six light wall light, so a stairwell and the rooms off it can be lit from one family.

Frequently Asked
What is the alabaster and does every drop look the same?
Each stone is natural Spanish alabaster, cut and carved rather than moulded. The veining, translucency and warmth run differently through every block, so no two Brisalda drops are identical and the nine stones on a single drop will not match each other exactly. That variation is the material, not a fault.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
It is rated IP20, so it must sit outside the zones defined around a bath or shower in BS 7671. Our photograph shows it above a vanity, which is usually outside those zones, but positions vary and your electrician should confirm before installing.
Can I replace the LED?
No. The LED is integrated rather than a separate lamp, so there is no bulb to change and none is supplied. It is rated for a long service life.
Can the drop be shortened?
The drop is 1085mm from the canopy to the lowest stone and the stones are threaded at a fixed spacing, so the length is not adjustable. Where a shorter or longer drop is wanted, the range runs from three stones on a wall plate up to ten on a pendant.
What ceiling height does it suit?
At 1085mm the lowest stone sits over a metre below the ceiling, so it reads best in a stairwell, a double height hall or a room with generous head height rather than a standard ceiling.
