Description

The Brasmane is a black pendant light made from two interlaced loops that spiral around one another, hung on three fine wires from a round black ceiling canopy. The body is aluminium and steel finished in black, and a white plastic diffuser lines the inner edge of each loop, so the glow comes from the band itself rather than from a bulb. The LEDs are integrated, drawing 42W and giving 5,000lm in a warm white 3000K. It measures 70cm across and stands 150cm tall overall, a size that suits a generous room.

We would hang it over a dining table, in the centre of a living room or above a kitchen island, anywhere one fitting has to light the space and hold the eye at the same time. With 5,000lm on tap it can work as the main light in a living or dining room, with lamps kept for mood. The open spiral leaves the ceiling visible through the loops, which stops a 70cm fitting from feeling heavy. The black finish sits well against white and pale walls, and the warm 3000K tone flatters wood, fabric and faces alike.

It is not dimmable and has no switch of its own, so you turn it on and off at your wall switch. If you like a softer light late in the evening, pair it with a table lamp or two. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains, carries an energy class of E and weighs 2.248KG packed. As a wired-in mains light it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download, so your electrician can read them before fitting day.
