Description

The Boreal is a multi-light alabaster pendant: three cylinders of stone stacked one above another into a tall, slender column, topped with a gold cap and hung from a gold textile cable. It is a three-light fitting with integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit or replace. The light is a warm 3000K white with a CRI of 90 or more, which means colours, food and skin tones look true beneath it. With a 360 degree beam, the light passes through the alabaster all the way round, and the veining in each cylinder shows through as the column glows.

Rated IP20, it is for dry rooms: a dining room, a living room, a bedroom, a hallway or an entrance hall. Its upright column suits a place where a pendant is seen from across the room, above a dining table, a sideboard or a console, and a single tall drop like this gives a hallway a focal point without crowding it. The gold textile cable is 1.5m long, worth measuring against your ceiling height before you settle on where it hangs. Its modern lines sit comfortably in a contemporary scheme, and the alabaster adds warmth to a plain one. It runs on 220-240V mains, so it is for a qualified electrician to install.

The body is alabaster throughout its three cylinders, with a gold cap at the top and the gold textile cable above it, so warm metal meets soft stone. It carries a 5 year guarantee. For styling, we would hang it against a plain wall or in a quiet corner so the full height of the column reads, and pair it with timber, linen or stone below to echo the alabaster's natural warmth.
