Description

The Blux W40 is a wall light from our Blux System range, with a single dome shade on a jointed head that pivots, so you can tip the light towards a chair, a table or the wall itself. It comes in black, red, beige, brass or copper, so it can sit quietly against a pale wall or bring a warm metallic note to a room. The round wall plate is 11cm across and the wall bracket is 22.5cm high. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 10W, sold separately, and the bulb you fit sets the brightness and warmth of the light.

This is an indoor wall light rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. We like it in a bedroom beside the bed, where the angled shade puts light on a book without lighting the whole room, and in a living room over an armchair, a reading corner or a sideboard. In a dining room, a pair either side of a dresser or a painting gives a soft, directed glow at eye level. It is not dimmable, so it runs from an ordinary switch rather than a dimmer; for a gentler light, choose a lower wattage bulb.

The Blux W40 runs on mains power and is wired in to the mains by an electrician, so it is for a qualified electrician to install. It is a Class I fitting, with an earth connection. Once it is up, the pivoting head lets you set the light where you want it and change the angle later as the room changes. When you buy a bulb, keep to the 10W maximum, and choose the finish with the room in mind: black, red and beige sit back against a wall, while brass and copper catch the light.
