Description

This is a single wall light with a dome shade on a short arm, fixed to a round wall plate. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 10W, and the bulb is sold separately: it is what gives the light, so you will want one ready on the day the fitting goes up. The fitting is not dimmable, so it suits a plain switch. We offer it in Black, Red, Beige, Brass or Copper, so it can sit quietly against a pale wall or add a warm note of colour. It stands 20cm tall, the shade is 17cm across and the head 18cm high, the wall plate is 13cm across, and it reaches 22.5cm out from the wall.

A wall light of this size works well beside a bed, where it gives light to read by without taking up any room on the bedside table. In a living room, a pair either side of a sofa or a fireplace gives a softer evening light than an overhead fitting alone, and in a dining room it can light a sideboard or the wall along the table. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

It is a mains fitting, wired in by an electrician, so plan for a qualified electrician to install it on the wall where you want it. Because the shade is open at the bottom, the bulb you choose shapes the light it gives: a frosted or opal bulb softens the glow, while a clear one looks crisper. Whichever you pick, keep to 10W at most. As it does not dim, think about the bulb's brightness before you buy, choosing a lower output for a bedside and a little more for a sideboard.
