This ceiling light hangs from a round canopy 14cm across. A stem 80cm long drops from the canopy, its upper section 40cm long, and two arms of 50cm each are set at an angle to one another, so the single dome shade sits out to one side rather than directly below the canopy. That zig-zag line gives the fitting real character, drawing the eye across the room. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 10W, and the dome shade opens downwards. We offer it in Black, Red, Beige, Brass or Copper, so you can choose a quiet tone or a bold one.

With its shade carried out on the arms, this ceiling light suits spots where you want the light set off to one side of the canopy: over one end of a dining table, above a desk, beside a reading chair or over a work table in a study, office or studio. Hung in a row over a long table, several together make a strong repeated line, which works as well in a restaurant or café as it does at home. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor rooms only. It is a good choice where a ceiling point sits away from the place you want lit.

Construction is simple: a canopy, a stem and two arms carrying the shade, with one E27 lamp holder. It is powered from the mains and wired in by a qualified electrician, and it is a Class I fitting. The E27 bulb is sold separately: it is the light source, up to 10W, so choose one before the light goes up. The fitting is not dimmable, so run it from a standard switch rather than a dimmer, and pick a bulb whose brightness suits the room at full output. When you change the bulb, keep to the 10W limit.
