Description

The Biscari is a recessed twin LED downlight: two square cells sit side by side in one rectangular trim, and each cell holds its own LED head. The body is cast aluminium with a brushed aluminium finish, and the black inner boxes keep the eye on the light rather than the trim. The integrated LEDs give 1,750lm at 3000K, a warm white that feels at home in a living space. It is 22.5cm long, 12cm wide and 9.5cm high. No IP rating is given for it, so we would keep it to dry rooms indoors.

Because the heads are adjustable, you can aim each pool of light at a picture, a bookcase or a dining table instead of straight down into the middle of the room. That makes it a good choice for living rooms, dining rooms, hallways and studies, anywhere you want a focused warm light with the fitting tucked neatly into the ceiling. Two lights in one trim also means one cut-out rather than two, which keeps a run of ceiling looking tidy and makes the spacing easy to plan.

The shade is clear glass, and the LEDs are replaceable, so when one eventually fades you change the LED rather than the whole fitting. There is no switch on the light itself; it is switched at the wall. Before you buy, check the void above your ceiling: it needs a recess depth of 10.5cm and a cut-out of 21.5cm, and the whole fitting weighs 0.71KG. As a wired-in light it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download.
