Description

A woven panel 120cm by 80cm, set in a slim flat frame of pale mango wood and 4cm deep overall. The weave is jute and cotton worked in close rows of loops, so the surface stands proud in ridges and the pattern is built out of the weaving rather than laid on top of it. The motif is abstract: a dark blue diamond and a wedge over bands of natural, clay and cream, with runs of vertical striping between them.

At 120 by 80cm this is a single large piece rather than one of a group, and it hangs either way up. Portrait it runs tall enough for a chimney breast or the wall beside a door. Landscape it sits above a sofa, where 120cm of width covers most of the back of a three seat. It weighs 8.1kg, which is heavy for a hanging of this size.
