Description

The Bilmora is a half-round outdoor wall light with a motion sensor: a lantern in a brushed stainless steel finish wrapped around a clear plastic shade. It is 20cm long, 26cm high and 10cm deep from the wall, a compact size that sits neatly beside a front door. Inside is a single E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60W. The bulb is not included, so you choose the one you like. With an IP44 rating it is protected from splashing water, which settles the big question: it can live outdoors on a house wall all year.

The two sensors do the thinking for you. The motion sensor sits in a small white dome underneath the lantern and switches the light on when it picks up movement, while the dusk-to-dawn sensor responds to the fading daylight. That makes it a natural choice for a front or back door, a porch, a garage or a garden wall, anywhere you want light as you come home with your hands full and your keys still in a pocket. We think it suits a house where nobody wants to remember a switch at night, and the half-round shape keeps the lantern close to the wall where a path is narrow.

The body is zinc-plated steel in a stainless steel finish, and zinc plating helps protect steel against corrosion. A band with slotted cut-outs circles the lower half, narrow side windows frame the clear shade, and a flat rim finishes the top and the base. Because the shade is transparent, the bulb is part of the look, and a clear filament-style E27 bulb shows off its filament nicely. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains as a hard-wired fitting, so it is installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions are available as a download, and the packed weight is 1.245KG.
