The Bexter is a flush ceiling light pared right back: a round ceiling plate and a single brass lampholder with knurled rings, made to take one bare bulb close to the ceiling. It is made of brass and comes in seven finishes: Antique Silver, Antique Brass, Polished Brass, Polished Chrome, Polished Copper, Satin Brass and Satin Chrome. The antique finishes have an aged, vintage look, while the polished and satin finishes give a cleaner line. At 8.5cm tall and 10cm across, it is a compact fitting that keeps the whole light tight to the ceiling, with nothing hanging down.

We think it suits a hallway best, where a light that stays close to the ceiling is practical and the bare bulb gives a simple, honest glow as you come through the door. Bulbs are sold separately: it takes one E27 bulb, up to 60W per bulb. With the bulb on full view, the one you choose sets both the look and the light, so pick it with the finish in mind. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, and it is an indoor fitting.
