Description

The Besmena Pendant Light is a dome-shaped steel shade, black on the outside and gold on the inside, hung on a slim black cord from a small round ceiling rose. Around the lower half of the shade, rows of horizontal slots are cut through the black steel, so the gold lining shows through in broken bands. The shade is 22.5cm across, and the light is 110cm tall overall. It takes a single E27 bulb of up to 40W, and the bulb is not included, so the colour and brightness of the light are yours to choose. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms only.

In a dining room, hung over the table, it sends light straight down through its open base, while the slots let light out sideways in soft bands. At 22.5cm across it is a compact size, so it suits a kitchen island, a breakfast bar, a hallway or a spot beside a bed, where a larger shade would crowd the space. It suits anyone who likes a dark, modern look with a little warmth; the gold inside lifts the black without making the room feel fussy.
