Description

The Beacon EVCS master station is a wall-mounted control panel for emergency voice communication systems, designed to coordinate up to 512 individual call lines across care homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities and other institutional settings. The 4.3" full-colour touchscreen interface allows operators to view incoming calls, locate outstations, and manage multiple simultaneous alerts from a single centralised position.

Built for environments where immediate two-way communication is required under BS5839-9:2021 and BS8300 standards, the master station integrates assist call systems, Type A outstations (emergency refuge points), and Type B outstations (disabled toilet alarms). The large handset supports full-duplex audio, meaning both parties can speak and listen simultaneously without needing to press-to-talk. System expansion requires a BMNETEX expander module for every 8 lines beyond the base configuration.

The control panel measures 400mm wide by 350mm high by 150mm deep and weighs 4.2kg net, requiring secure wall mounting on a solid substrate. Backup battery capability is built into the unit, though the battery itself is sold separately. The touchscreen displays caller location, call type and system status at a glance, reducing response time in critical situations. Cabling runs to outstations use standard Cat5e or Cat6 infrastructure, simplifying installation in retrofit scenarios where data cabling already exists.

The master station sits as the hub of a networked EVCS system rather than operating standalone. Incoming calls from outstations trigger visual and audible alerts on the touchscreen, allowing staff to prioritise and respond based on call type and location. The unit's compliance with BS8300 means it meets accessibility requirements for public buildings, while BS5839-9:2021 compliance ensures it satisfies fire safety guidance for voice alarm systems in complex premises.

Frequently Asked

What is the maximum number of outstations this master station can handle?

The master station supports up to 512 individual call lines. Each BMNETEX expander module adds capacity for 8 lines, so a full 512-line system requires 64 expander modules networked to the master station.

Does the backup battery come included?

No. The master station has built-in circuitry to support a backup battery, but the battery itself is sold separately and must be specified based on the required standby duration for the installation.

What cabling is required to connect outstations?

The system uses standard Cat5e or Cat6 data cabling to connect outstations to the master station and expander modules. This allows retrofit installations to use existing structured cabling infrastructure where available.

Is this unit compliant with UK accessibility and fire safety standards?

Yes. The master station is fully compliant with BS5839-9:2021 for emergency voice communication systems and BS8300 for accessibility in public buildings. See the datasheet in the Downloads tab for certification details.
