Description

The Knightsbridge SN8210 is a BC (B22d bayonet cap) batten lampholder in white thermoset resin with a short skirt profile, measuring 75mm diameter and 57.5mm projection from the ceiling. The 3-terminal loop-in configuration allows the cable to run through the fitting to the next point on the circuit without needing a separate junction box, making it suited to row-mount installations where multiple lampholders run on the same circuit.

Designed for utility lighting in garages, workshops, storerooms, lofts and industrial settings where function matters over form, the batten holder mounts directly to ceiling joists, battens or surface-mounted conduit without requiring a separate backplate or ceiling rose. The short skirt reduces the overall projection from the ceiling compared to standard batten holders, useful in low-headroom spaces or where the fitting sits close to stored goods or racking.

The thermoset resin construction provides resistance to heat and impact beyond what standard polycarbonate lampholders offer, with a Class II double-insulated design that does not require an earth connection. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations. The fitting is rated for bulbs up to 100W incandescent or 8W LED, with dimming capability dependent on the bulb chosen. Terminal capacity of 2 x 1.5mm² handles standard UK twin-and-earth cable. Knightsbridge backs the SN8210 with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What does 3-terminal loop-in mean?

Loop-in wiring allows the cable to run through the fitting to the next point on the circuit without needing a separate junction box. The three terminals handle live, neutral and switch-live connections, making the SN8210 suited to installations where multiple lampholders run on the same circuit, such as row-mount garage or workshop lighting.

Can this be used outdoors or in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations. For bathrooms or outdoor use, a lampholder with a higher IP rating is required.

What bulb does it take?

The lampholder takes a standard BC (B22d bayonet cap) bulb up to 100W incandescent or 8W LED. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-8W LED bulb in utility settings.

What is the difference between short skirt and standard batten holders?

The short skirt reduces the overall projection from the ceiling to 57.5mm, compared to 70-80mm for standard batten holders. This is useful in low-headroom spaces or where the fitting sits close to stored goods or racking.
