Description

This Knightsbridge BC cord grip lampholder accepts B22d bayonet-cap bulbs and includes an integrated cord grip that clamps the pendant cable in place without needing a separate strain relief device. The lampholder body is moulded from white PBT plastic with a Class II double-insulated construction, rated at 100W for incandescent bulbs or a maximum 8W for LED bulbs on 230V mains.

Designed for DIY pendant light installations, lamp repairs and temporary lighting rigs, the cord grip simplifies wiring by holding the cable secure once the terminals are connected, preventing strain on the electrical connections if the fitting is knocked or moved. The 38.5mm diameter body and 58mm height fit inside most pendant shades with standard lampholder apertures.

The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations only — this lampholder is not suitable for bathrooms, kitchens above worktops, or any outdoor application. The white finish on the PBT plastic resists discolouration under heat from incandescent bulbs better than cheaper thermoplastics, and the material remains stable across the -5°C to +90°C operating range. Certified to BS EN 61184 and EN 62471 for electrical safety and photobiological risk.

What is the cord grip for?

The integrated cord grip clamps the pendant cable in place once the electrical terminals are connected, acting as strain relief. This prevents the cable pulling free from the terminals if the fitting is knocked or moved during use.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating limits this lampholder to dry indoor locations only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, kitchens above worktops, or any outdoor application where moisture may be present.

What is the maximum bulb wattage?

100W for incandescent or halogen bulbs, or a maximum 8W for LED bulbs. The lower LED limit reflects the tighter thermal tolerances of LED driver circuitry inside the bulb base.

Does it work with dimmer switches?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb fitted. The lampholder itself does not limit dimming, so any dimmable B22 LED or incandescent bulb paired with a compatible dimmer switch will work as expected.
