Description

The Knightsbridge SN8200 is a BC (B22d) batten holder in white thermoset resin, rated for 100W incandescent bulbs or 8W LED equivalents on 230V mains. The holder mounts directly to a ceiling or wall surface via a 75mm diameter circular base plate, providing a simple fitting solution for utility lighting in garages, workshops, loft spaces and storerooms.

The three-terminal block accepts two conductors of 1.5mm² each, allowing for loop-in wiring where the fitting serves as a junction point in the lighting circuit. The 61mm projection from the mounting surface accommodates standard BC bayonet bulbs without the holder sitting too far from the wall or ceiling. The white thermoset resin construction is Class II rated, meaning it does not require an earth connection and relies on double insulation for safety.

Certified to BS EN 61184 and EN 62471, the holder carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor use only. The T2 thermal rating indicates it can handle the heat output of 100W incandescent bulbs or the significantly lower heat from modern 8W LED equivalents. Dimming capability depends on the bulb installed rather than the holder itself, so a dimmable BC LED bulb paired with a compatible dimmer will allow dimming.

What does BC mean and what bulb does it take?

BC stands for bayonet cap, the British standard B22d bulb base with two pins that twist-lock into the holder. This accepts any standard BC bulb up to 100W incandescent or 8W LED.

Can it be used outdoors or in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating is for dry indoor use only. It offers no protection against moisture ingress and should not be installed in bathrooms, outdoor locations or anywhere exposed to damp.

Does it need an earth connection?

No. The holder is Class II rated, meaning it uses double insulation and does not require an earth wire. The three terminals are for live, neutral and loop-through connections only.

What is the terminal capacity?

Each terminal accepts two conductors of 1.5mm² cross-sectional area, allowing for loop-in wiring where the fitting acts as a junction point in the lighting circuit.
