Baymont E27 3 Light Pendant Light Ivory Pearl 40cm - Satin Nickel

A three-lamp pendant hung under a 40cm faux silk drum shade, ivory pearl on the outside with a white laminate lining that bounces the light back cleanly. A frosted acrylic diffuser closes the underside, so the lamps are hidden and the light arrives soft rather than glaring. The suspension, ceiling plate and lampholders are finished in satin nickel, a low-sheen brushed grey that stays quiet against pale walls and reads warmer than chrome.

With three lamps behind one shade it gives a broad, even wash, which makes it a sensible choice over a dining table, in the middle of a sitting room, or in a main bedroom where a single lamp would look thin. The suspension allows a short hang for an ordinary ceiling or a much longer one over a stairwell or in a room with height to spare. Each lampholder takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and we would reach for LED GLS globes here for the sake of the shade and the running cost. It will dim, provided the lamps you choose are dimmable and a compatible dimmer is on the circuit.

The shade is a fabric-covered drum on a laminate-lined interior, and the metalwork carries a satin nickel plate; it is intended for dry rooms indoors, away from steam and splashes. Keep it fresh by drawing a soft brush or the upholstery tool of a vacuum lightly across the fabric, and buffing the nickel with a dry duster; the acrylic diffuser wants nothing stronger than a damp cloth and a dry one after. It carries a one year warranty. The wider range gives you the same Baymont fittings as universal flush and semi-flush plates and as linear pendants, in polished chrome, antique brass, satin black and this satin nickel. Lamps are not supplied.

What size is the shade?

The drum shade measures 400mm across and 180mm deep, with an overall body height of 355mm.

How far down does it hang?

The drop runs from a minimum of 390mm to a maximum of 3310mm, so it works in low rooms and tall stairwells alike.

What lamps does it take?

Three E27 lamps, each up to 20W. LED GLS (A60) globes are the recommended choice, and they are not included.

Can I dim it?

Yes, with dimmable lamps fitted and a compatible dimmer on the circuit. No dimmer is supplied with the pendant.

How do I clean the fabric shade?

Dust it gently with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery tool. Avoid water and sprays on the fabric; the acrylic diffuser can be wiped with a barely damp cloth.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated for dry indoor rooms only, so keep it to living spaces, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways.
