Description

A slim horizontal bar carries three E27 lampholders in a row, plated and polished to a bright chrome that catches whatever light is already in the room. The bar runs 95cm end to end, so each holder sits far enough from its neighbour to take a shade of your own choosing without crowding. Each drop adjusts on its own, from close under the ceiling down to a maximum of 210cm, and every holder takes a screw-fit lamp, with a GLS LED globe the sensible choice.

We reach for a linear pendant like this over a long dining table, a kitchen island or a run of worktop, where a single central fitting would leave the far ends of the table dim. It also earns its keep above a breakfast bar or a hall console. Because every drop is set separately, you can hang the lamps dead level or step them at staggered heights, which works nicely in a room with a sloping or lofty ceiling. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; a bathroom or a covered porch calls for something sealed.

The plating is buffed to a mirror sheen that sits well with handles, taps and mirror frames in the same finish. Polished chrome does show fingerprints and dust, so give it an occasional buff with a clean dry duster, and leave household sprays and cream cleaners in the cupboard, as they haze the surface. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same bar in antique brass and satin nickel, and with a longer flex for taller rooms, and the range also runs to flush and semi-flush fittings if a pendant would hang too low. Shades and lamps are chosen separately and are not included.
