Description

The Basmorne is a compact square flush ceiling light: a clean white cube of aluminium, 10cm long, 10cm wide and 12cm high, with a square opening on its underside. It takes a GU10 bulb, which is not included, so the brightness and colour of the light are yours to choose. Its IP20 rating settles where it can go: this is a light for dry rooms indoors, such as hallways, living rooms, bedrooms and studies, and not for bathrooms or anywhere outdoors.

Because it sits on the surface of the ceiling, there is nothing to recess, and at 12cm high it stays neat and close to the ceiling. That makes it a good choice for rooms with lower ceilings, for narrow hallways and landings, and for dining areas where you want a tidy point of light over a table. The square shape and plain white finish suit modern and minimal interiors, and a few fitted in a row along a corridor give an even, ordered look. White also blends into a white ceiling, so the light reads as part of the room rather than a feature that competes with it.

The body is aluminium, a light metal, and the whole fitting weighs 0.56KG. It runs on mains power at 220-240V, 50/60Hz, and has no switch of its own: it is switched at the wall, so it works from your wall switch. As a wired mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. One practical point before fitting day: have a GU10 bulb ready, because none comes in the box.
