Description

The Basmorne is a round flush ceiling light: a simple white cylinder of aluminium that sits tight against the ceiling, standing 12cm tall and 10cm in diameter. The lower end is open, so the light from its single GU10 bulb is directed downward into the room. The bulb is not included, which leaves the choice of GU10 bulb to you. With an IP20 rating it is made for indoor, dry rooms, so we would keep it out of bathrooms and away from water.

Because it is compact and sits flush, the Basmorne suits places where a pendant would get in the way or a recessed downlight is not practical: hallways, landings, a bedroom with a low ceiling or a home office. One on its own gives a neat pool of light over a chair or a console table, and several in a row light a corridor or a long living room without clutter. The plain white finish blends into a white ceiling, so the eye goes to the light rather than the fitting. It suits anyone furnishing a modern or minimal home who wants good light without a bulky shade.

The body is aluminium, a metal that is light and resists corrosion, and the whole fitting weighs 0.49KG. The white carries through to the inner rim of the open end, so it looks tidy from every angle in the room. There is no switch on the light itself; it is switched at the wall, so you turn it on from a wall switch. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a PDF download. Remember to pick up a GU10 bulb alongside it, as one is not included.
