Description

The Baskin is a 254mm glass pendant light combining a painted aged brass ceiling canopy and cable grip with a dark weathered zinc collar at the top of the shade. A clear tapered glass shade sits below the zinc collar, housing a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately). The black fabric-covered cable runs 1829mm from canopy to lamp holder, allowing the pendant to be set anywhere from 301mm to 2090mm total drop on installation.

Designed for kitchens, dining tables, hallways and breakfast bars, the Baskin works as task lighting over a worktop or as ambient light in an entrance hall. The 254mm shade diameter suits tables 900-1200mm wide and kitchen islands up to 1500mm, typically hung 700-750mm above the surface. The combination of aged brass, weathered zinc and clear glass pairs with both warm-toned timber interiors and cooler grey or white schemes, bridging traditional and contemporary styles without committing fully to either.

The aged brass finish on the canopy and cable grip shows subtle tonal variation and darkening at edges, replicating the patina of older metalwork. The dark weathered zinc collar contrasts with the brass and frames the top of the glass shade, adding a second metal tone that stops the fitting reading as single-finish brass. The clear glass shade allows full light transmission and shows the bulb filament when lit, so pairing with a decorative filament LED or vintage-style carbon bulb adds to the visual effect.

What bulb does the Baskin take?

The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. The clear glass shade shows the bulb when lit, so decorative filament LED bulbs or vintage-style carbon filament bulbs are popular choices for this fitting.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The drop is set on installation by cutting the cable to the required length before wiring into the ceiling rose. The 1829mm cable allows a minimum drop of 301mm and a maximum of 2090mm, but once installed the height cannot be changed without re-wiring.

What ceiling height is needed?

For installation over a dining table or kitchen island, the pendant typically hangs 700-750mm above the surface. This works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the Baskin if the cable is shortened to reduce the drop.

How are the brass and zinc finishes different?
