Description

Eight slim arms sweep out from a central stem, each rising to an open lamp holder, so the candle lamps you choose stay part of the look. The finish is polished nickel, bright and reflective, and the fitting measures 59cm across, giving it presence without hanging low into the room. As a semi flush it sits close to the ceiling and spreads light sideways rather than pooling it in one place. It is one we reach for when a full chandelier would crowd a room but a single pendant would look thin.

It suits rooms where a pendant would hang too low: a landing, a hallway under a modest ceiling, a dining room with beams, or a bedroom where headroom is tight. The width reads well over a round table or at the centre of a square room. Small candle lamps on E14 sockets do the work, and the fitting will dim if you choose dimmable lamps and add a compatible dimmer, which is bought separately. We would go for warm white LED candles here, for a softer glow through the polished frame.

The polished nickel is carried right through, across the arms, the central stem and the body, so the fitting reads as one piece from every angle. A bright finish like this picks up fingerprints, so give the arms an occasional gentle buff with a soft dry cloth, leave household sprays and abrasive creams well alone, and wait for the lamps to cool before handling them. It carries a one year warranty. With the holders left open, your choice of lamp does much of the styling: clear candles for sparkle, opal for something calmer. Lamps are not included.
