Description

Three slim arms rise from a round base and end in small candle holders, grouped close so the light pools at the centre of the lamp rather than scattering. The base is 24cm across and the piece stands 52cm to the top of the holders, tall enough to carry a shade with some depth. An inline switch on the flex means you turn it on at hand height rather than groping behind a table. It takes three E14 candle lamps, and we would fit LED candles.

It suits a bedside where a ceiling light is too much after dark, a hallway table, or a pair on a long sideboard. Since it comes without a shade, it is a good choice if you already have a shade you like, or you want to pick the fabric and shape yourself; we often point people here when the shade is the part they care about most. Polished nickel reads cooler and sharper than brass, and it sits comfortably with grey, white and pale wood. Dimming is possible with dimmable lamps and a separate dimmer.

The frame carries a polished nickel finish throughout, bright and even, and the lamp is double insulated, so no earth connection is needed. Nickel shows fingerprints more readily than an aged finish, so a wipe with a dry soft cloth now and then keeps it looking crisp; skip metal polishes and scouring pads, which will dull the surface. Keep it to dry rooms, well away from basins and splashes. It carries a one year warranty. Left bare, the arms have a spare, slightly industrial look; under a wide drum or small clip shades it turns into something softer. Shade and lamps are bought separately.
