Description

Three arms curve out from a central stem, each ending in an open E14 lampholder with no shade above it. That leaves the lamps on show, so candle lamps are the ones to pick: their tapered shape suits a bare holder and keeps the whole fitting looking light. Across the arms it spans 35cm, wide enough to spread its light without crowding a small room, and a chain of 1.5m comes with it so the hanging height is yours to set.

We would hang this over a dining table, in a hallway, or above a kitchen island where a shaded pendant would block the view across the room. It sits happily in older houses and plainer modern ones alike, since the matt black frame is quiet enough to work against most wall colours. Dimming is possible if you fit dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer, which is worth doing where the same table serves breakfast and supper. Keep it to dry indoor rooms; it is not intended for bathrooms or covered porches.

The matt black runs throughout, arms, stem and chain alike, with no gloss to catch glare from the lamps. Dust it with a dry cloth now and then, with the power off and the lamps cool, and it will ask for little else; a barely damp cloth is fine along the chain if grime has gathered in the links. It carries a one year warranty. We like it precisely because it is bare-armed, which hands the character over to your choice of lamp: clear candles for sparkle, opal glass for something softer, or a filament candle where the light falls low over a table. Lamps are not included.
