Three candle sockets sit at the top of a slender standard, the whole thing finished in champagne gold, a warm metallic that sits quieter than polished brass. It comes without shades, and that is deliberate: you pick the shades and set the character yourself. A foot switch on the flex saves reaching behind furniture for a plug or a rocker, and the head stands 1.6m up, so the light lands at a comfortable level for a seated room rather than glaring down from above.

We would put this at the end of a sofa, or in the corner of a sitting room where a table lamp cannot reach, and it does the same job flanking an armchair in a reading nook or standing in for a bedside light where there is no room for a table. Because the shades are yours to choose, it suits anyone building a lamp around an existing scheme instead of working around a fixed one. It will dim, given lamps that dim and a dimmer to run them, and both of those are chosen separately.

It is double insulated, so no earth is needed at the plug, and it belongs in dry rooms indoors. To keep it looking right, unplug it first, let anything warm come down to room temperature, then wipe the stem and the sockets with a dry lint free cloth, leaving polishes and sprays well away from the finish. It carries a one year warranty. We stock small candle LEDs in warm white that suit this head, and our advice is to keep the shades identical rather than mixing them, so the three arms read as a single piece rather than three separate lamps. Lamps are not included.

What lamps does it take, and how many?

Three E14 small screw lamps, up to 20W each. Candle shapes in the C35 profile suit the sockets best, and LED candles are what we would fit.

Does it come with shades?

No. It is supplied as a bare three light standard, so you choose shades to suit your room. Shades with an E14 clip or a small ring fitting are the usual match for candle lamps.

How tall is it, and how much floor space does it need?

It stands 1600mm high on a base of 300mm diameter, so a corner or a gap beside a sofa arm is enough. Allow extra width for whatever shades you fit.

How is it switched?

A foot switch on the flex, so it is operated at floor level without reaching for the socket.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, with dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. Neither is supplied with the lamp.

How should the champagne gold finish be cleaned?

Unplug it, let the lamps cool, then dust with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid metal polish, abrasive pads and household sprays, which can mark a coloured metal finish.
