Description

The Baltimore is a 2.4m outdoor lamp post in a weathered bronze finish, topped with a single-light lantern housing amber-tinted blown glass panels. The lantern head features cast metal scroll detailing and a decorative leaf finial, while the fluted column tapers in three sections from a square base to the lantern mount. The E27 fitting accepts a single bulb up to 60W (sold separately).

Designed for front gardens, driveways and courtyard entrances, the 2.4m height positions the lantern head at eye level for most adults when standing close, or provides overhead light when viewed from a distance. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, making the lamp post suitable for UK weather conditions in exposed locations. Installation requires a buried ground spike or concrete foundation and connection to mains outdoor-rated wiring.

The weathered bronze patina is applied by hand, giving each lamp post slight tonal variation where the finish settles into the cast detailing. The amber-tinted glass softens the light output, reducing glare when the bulb is visible from above or at an angle, and adds a warm tone to the light cast onto surrounding walls and pathways. The bronze finish weathers further over time when exposed to moisture and UV, developing a darker patina in recessed areas.

What bulb does it take?

The lantern takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. For outdoor use, choose a warm-white LED rated for outdoor conditions, typically 6-10W and 2700K-3000K.

How is the lamp post installed?

Installation requires either a buried ground spike foundation or a concrete base with anchor bolts. The lamp post must be wired to mains outdoor-rated cable by a qualified electrician. The column sections connect with internal fixings before the lantern head is mounted on top.

Is the IP44 rating suitable for exposed locations?

Yes. IP44 protects against water splashes from any direction, which covers typical UK rain and garden hose spray. The rating does not protect against submersion or high-pressure jets, so avoid installing where the lamp post would sit in standing water.

Does the weathered bronze finish require maintenance?

The hand-applied weathered bronze patina will darken further over time when exposed to moisture and UV. This is a natural characteristic of the finish. Wipe with a dry cloth to remove surface debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners or metal polishes, which would remove the patina.
