Description

The Balance is a 455mm diameter pendant light with a white fabric drum shade, polished nickel trim at the base rim, and a matt black ceiling canopy and rod. The shade houses a single E27 fitting that accepts bulbs up to 60W, with a white laminate lining on the interior that reflects light downwards and outwards through the fabric.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and entrance halls, the Balance provides ambient and task lighting from a height-adjustable drop between 334mm and 1234mm (measured from ceiling to the base of the shade). The 900mm cable adjustment range allows the pendant to be set at the correct height on installation, typically 700-800mm above a dining table or 600-750mm above a kitchen worktop. The matt black rod contrasts with the polished nickel base trim, which catches light and defines the lower edge of the shade.

The white fabric shade softens the light output compared to a bare bulb or metal reflector, making the Balance suitable for positions where glare needs to be controlled — over a dining table where people sit directly under the light, or above a worktop where reflected brightness from a hard shade would cause discomfort. The 230mm shade depth gives the pendant visual presence without dominating smaller rooms. The fabric is taut over an internal wire frame, presenting as a clean drum profile from all angles.

What bulb does it take?

The Balance takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-12W and 2700K-3000K for dining or kitchen use.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

No. The drop is adjustable only during installation, by shortening the cable inside the ceiling canopy before the canopy is fixed to the ceiling rose. Once installed, the drop is fixed at that height.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 334-1234mm adjustable drop suits ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. For a dining table, the pendant typically sits 700-800mm above the table surface. For a kitchen island, 600-750mm above the worktop is standard. Lower ceilings can accommodate the pendant at the minimum 334mm drop setting.

How is the fabric shade cleaned?

Switch off and allow the bulb to cool before cleaning. Use a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner to remove dust, or wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid water or cleaning sprays, which can stain the fabric.
