Description

The Balance is a 455mm drum pendant light with a brown fabric shade lined with metallic gold on the interior, suspended from a polished brass ceiling rose and rod. The shade houses a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately) that directs light downward and reflects off the gold lining to create a warm glow through the brown fabric.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and living room clusters, the Balance works as a single pendant over a 4-6 seater table or grouped in twos or threes over longer surfaces. The drop is adjustable on installation from a minimum of 334mm to a maximum of 1234mm, allowing the pendant to be set 700-900mm above a dining table or lower for higher ceilings. The 455mm diameter suits rooms with 2.4m or higher ceilings without overwhelming the space.

The brown fabric shade is a mid-tone warm brown with visible weave texture, contrasting with the polished brass metalwork at the canopy, rod and central diffuser detail. The gold-lined interior reflects and warms the light output, reducing harsh shadows and giving a softer ambient tone compared to a white interior. The fabric softens reflections on glossy surfaces below, making the Balance suitable for use above polished dining tables or kitchen worktops without excessive glare.

What bulb does the Balance take?

The pendant uses a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to complement the gold-lined interior and brown fabric shade.

How is the drop adjusted?

The drop is adjusted during installation by shortening the rod and cable run before fixing the ceiling rose. Once installed, the drop is fixed and cannot be changed without removing the ceiling rose and re-threading the cable.

Can it be used in multiples over a long table?

Yes. The 455mm diameter works well in groups of two or three over dining tables longer than 1.8m or kitchen islands. Space pendants 600-900mm apart for balanced coverage without overlap.

Is the gold lining visible when the light is off?

The gold lining is visible through the central diffuser aperture at the base of the shade when looking up from underneath. When lit, the gold reflects light through the brown fabric, creating a warm glow. When off, the brown exterior is the dominant visual from eye level.
