Description

The Balance is a 5-light chandelier built on five white-painted metal arms radiating from a central white hub, each tipped with a polished nickel socket housing and a white fabric drum shade. Each shade measures approximately 140mm diameter and contains an acrylic diffuser ring at the base to soften downlight and reduce glare. The chandelier takes five E27 bulbs (sold separately) up to 40W each, giving a combined maximum output of 200W when fitted with halogen bulbs or equivalent LED.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and open-plan living areas with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Balance provides ambient lighting across a 2-3m table or central seating area. The 535mm diameter spread positions the five shades in a roughly circular arrangement, distributing light evenly without clustering. The drop is adjustable between 350mm minimum and 1250mm maximum on installation, allowing the chandelier to be set 700-900mm above a dining surface depending on ceiling height. The white ceiling rose fits standard UK ceiling points and the cable runs through a matching white flex.

The white fabric shades have a laminate white lining inside that reflects light back down through the acrylic diffuser, increasing perceived brightness compared to unlined fabric. The polished nickel detailing on the socket housings and arm joints provides contrast against the white finish without dominating the overall palette. The combined metal frame, fabric shades and diffusers give the chandelier a total weight suitable for standard plasterboard ceiling fixings with appropriate anchors. The white-on-white palette with nickel accents suits coastal, Scandinavian, transitional and clean-lined contemporary interiors.

What bulbs does the Balance take?

The chandelier takes five E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for dining areas, giving the equivalent light output of 40-60W halogen per bulb at a fraction of the energy cost.

What table size does it suit?

The 535mm diameter spread works over dining tables between 1.8m and 2.4m long, or kitchen islands of similar length. The five-light arrangement provides even coverage across a 2-3m surface when the chandelier is hung 700-900mm above the table.

Is the drop adjustable after installation?

The drop is set during installation by shortening the flex at the ceiling rose. Once fitted, the drop cannot be adjusted without removing the ceiling rose cover and re-setting the flex length. Choose the required drop measurement before final installation.

Can the fabric shades be cleaned?

The white fabric shades can be dusted with a soft dry cloth or a lint roller. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp microfibre cloth is acceptable, but avoid soaking the fabric or using chemical cleaners. The acrylic diffusers can be wiped with a damp cloth and dried immediately.
