Description

The Balamorta is a slim black pendant light: a narrow steel tube hanging on a fine cord from a small round ceiling canopy, with a white plastic diffuser set into its base. The bottom of the tube is cut away in a gentle curve, so a sliver of white catches the eye from across the room. It stands 110cm tall overall and is 5.5cm in diameter. Inside is an integrated LED of 3.7W giving 500lm, so there is never a bulb to buy or change. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

Because the tube is so narrow, it suits spots where a wider shade would crowd the view: over a kitchen island, above a dining table or beside a bed, and a few hung in a row along a breakfast bar look neat. The real gain is the light itself. Through the app you can dim it, move the white from a warm 2700K to a cool 6500K, or switch to colour and bathe the table in pink, blue or green for an evening with friends. That makes one fitting do several jobs: a crisp, cool white while you cook, a warmer glow once dinner is served, and a splash of colour when the mood calls for it.

The body is steel in a black finish, and the white plastic diffuser at its base softens the glow of the LED. There is no switch on the pendant itself: it is switched at the wall like any ceiling light, and the app handles dimming, colour temperature and colour from there. A remote control also works with it, sold separately. As a wired-in mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download.
