Description

This B22 to GU10 lamp socket converter allows GU10 spotlight bulbs to be fitted into standard B22 bayonet cap lamp holders. The converter features a white ceramic body housing the GU10 socket, with a brass B22 bayonet cap base that twists into existing lamp holders in the same way as a traditional bulb.

Designed for situations where a GU10 spotlight bulb is needed in a lamp holder originally designed for bayonet cap bulbs, the converter is commonly used in table lamps, floor lamps, and pendant fittings where a user wants to replace an old-style bulb with a directional GU10 LED or halogen spotlight. The 60W maximum load rating accommodates most GU10 LED bulbs (typically 3-7W) and halogen GU10 bulbs up to 50W.

The ceramic construction withstands the heat generated by halogen GU10 bulbs better than plastic adapters, and the material conforms to BS EN60238 safety standards for lamp holders. The converter measures 54mm in length with a 35mm diameter body, adding approximately 30mm of projection beyond the original lamp holder once the GU10 bulb is inserted. The 40g weight is light enough not to affect the balance of most table and floor lamp fittings.

Frequently Asked

Will this work with LED GU10 bulbs?

Yes. The 60W rating covers all standard GU10 LED bulbs, which typically draw between 3W and 7W. The ceramic socket also accommodates halogen GU10 bulbs up to 50W.

Does it add much length to the lamp fitting?

The converter itself is 54mm long. Once a GU10 bulb is inserted, the combined projection is typically 80-90mm depending on the specific bulb model used, adding approximately 30mm beyond the original bayonet bulb length.

Is it safe to use with halogen GU10 bulbs?

Yes. The ceramic construction is designed to handle the heat output from halogen GU10 bulbs and conforms to BS EN60238 safety standards for lamp holders. Ensure the lamp fitting itself is rated for the wattage of the bulb being used.

Can it be used in enclosed lamp fittings?

The converter can be used in enclosed fittings provided the GU10 bulb itself is rated for enclosed use. Check the bulb packaging — some high-output halogen and LED GU10 bulbs require ventilation and are not suitable for fully enclosed shades.
