Description

This B22 to E27 lamp converter allows an E27 Edison screw bulb to be fitted into a B22 bayonet cap light fitting. The adapter has a B22 bayonet base that inserts into the existing lamp holder and an E27 threaded socket at the other end to receive the bulb, with a 60W maximum load rating and 4A at 250V capacity.

Used when replacing failed B22 bulbs with E27 alternatives already in stock, or when a specific E27 bulb type is needed in a B22 fitting where rewiring the lampholder is impractical. The converter suits table lamps, floor lamps, pendant fittings and wall lights with accessible B22 lampholders. The bulb must be screwed into the converter before the combined unit is inserted into the light fitting to avoid strain on the internal connections.

The white thermoplastic body measures 50mm tall by 35mm diameter and adds 18g to the total weight of the bulb assembly. The converter conforms to BS EN60238 for lamp holder safety requirements. It provides a simple mechanical and electrical connection between incompatible cap types without requiring tools or permanent modification to the light fitting.

Frequently Asked

How is the converter fitted?

Screw the E27 bulb into the converter's threaded socket first, then insert the combined converter and bulb into the B22 bayonet fitting. Do not insert the converter alone and then attempt to screw the bulb in while it's already mounted in the fitting.

What is the maximum bulb wattage?

60W maximum. This applies to the combined load of the bulb. Most LED bulbs draw well below this, but check the bulb's rated wattage before use.

Can it be used with dimmer switches?

The converter itself is passive and does not affect dimming. Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb fitted into the converter and the type of dimmer switch in use.

Will it work with all E27 bulbs?

Yes, provided the bulb's rated wattage does not exceed 60W and the bulb's physical dimensions allow it to fit within the shade or fitting once the converter's 50mm height is added.
