Description
B.Light 1 is a square mirror 70cm each way with one lit band running across the upper part of the face. The band sits inside the glass, inset from all four edges, and the rest of the panel is an ordinary mirror. Light passes through that strip rather than spilling round the outside, so the brightness is on the mirror itself and falls forward onto whoever is standing at it.
That is a different arrangement from an edge lit mirror, where the glow lands on the wall behind. Here the light is where you need it, above eye level and pointing out, which is why it suits a basin or a shaving position rather than a hallway. A small round sensor just below the lower edge switches it. It is rated bathroom proof. The panel is 3cm deep and weighs 10kg, so one person can hang it on the two screws, washers and plugs supplied, and there is nothing to assemble. Because the sensor is at the bottom it hangs one way up only.
Construction is partially mirrored glass on a metal carrier with an integrated LED, and the LED carries a two year warranty against the seven years on the mirror itself. Clean it with cleaner on a cloth, never sprayed straight at the glass, and keep water away from the sensor. The lit band is behind the glass rather than in a plastic diffuser on the front, so there is no fitting on the surface to clean around and no lens to yellow. A version with a heating mat behind the glass is made as well, for anyone who wants the mirror to stay clear in a steamy room.

Frequently Asked
Where does the light come from?
One lit band across the upper part of the mirrored face, inset from the edges. The light comes through the glass and forward rather than onto the wall behind.
Is that the same as the edge lit mirrors?
No. On an edge lit mirror the glow lands on the wall. Here it is on the mirror itself, pointing out at you.
How is it switched?
A small round sensor just below the lower edge.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
Yes, it is rated bathroom proof.
Does it stay clear when the room steams up?
Not on its own. The Plus version adds a heating mat behind the glass for that.
What does it weigh?
10kg, and it is 3cm deep. One person can hang it.
