Description

The Avyn small is a candle holder blown from recycled glass: a tapered cylindrical foot that widens upward into a broad shallow dish, with a small metal socket set at the centre of the dish for a dinner candle. It stands 15cm tall and measures 11cm across the dish. The green is deep enough to read as near black where the glass doubles back on itself and lightens toward olive where the wall is thin.

The dish is wide relative to the candle, so drips land on glass rather than on the table. At 15cm the flame sits just above a table setting rather than in among it, which is the height that works alongside plates and glasses. Stood beside the 20cm Avyn, the two make a stepped pair rather than a matched one.

The glass is recycled and the colour is an applied finish rather than solid coloured glass, so it sits on the surface. Each piece is blown, so the wall thickness and the depth of the green vary between holders. Avyn also runs in a 20cm size. The candle is not included.

Frequently Asked

What candle does it take?

A dinner candle, in the metal socket at the centre of the dish.

Is the glass coloured all the way through?

No. The colour is an applied finish, not solid coloured glass.

How does it compare with the large Avyn?

This one is 15cm tall and 11cm across. The large is 20cm tall and 16cm across.

How do I look after it?

Wash it with a mild dish soap and warm water after each use to clear wax, and keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the finish.

Does it get hot in use?

Yes. Stand the candle securely, keep it out of reach of children, let it cool fully before handling it, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
