Ava 9 Light Crystal Sphere Pendant Light - French Gold

The Ava is a 600mm diameter crystal sphere pendant light built from interconnected French gold rings forming an open lattice globe. Hundreds of octagon-cut clear crystals are wired onto the metal framework, distributed evenly across the entire surface. Nine G9 bulb fittings sit inside the sphere, casting light outward through the crystal layer and the gaps in the metalwork, creating refracted highlights and shadow patterns on surrounding surfaces.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and double-height spaces with ceiling heights of 2.8m or above, the Ava provides both ambient and decorative lighting. The 800mm minimum drop places the centre of the sphere approximately 1.2m below a 2.8m ceiling, with adjustment up to 2200mm for higher installations. The French gold finish reads as a warm rose-gold tone in daylight and deepens to a richer bronze under evening artificial light. The 14kg weight requires secure ceiling fixings rated to support the load.

The octagon crystal cutting produces sharper facets than standard round beads, giving more defined light scatter when the bulbs are on. The open lattice structure means light escapes upward and downward as well as horizontally, so the pendant casts patterns onto the ceiling and floor beneath it. The hand-formed metal rings give a slight irregularity to the spacing, which prevents the sphere from looking mechanically perfect and adds a craftsman-made quality to the finished piece.

What bulbs does it take?

The Ava takes nine G9 capsule bulbs, each rated up to 33W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use 2.5-4W LED G9 bulbs at 2700K-3000K warm white to achieve the right light level without glare from the exposed bulbs inside the sphere.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, provided you use dimmable G9 LED bulbs and pair them with a compatible LED dimmer switch. Non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail if used with a dimmer.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 800mm minimum drop suits ceiling heights of 2.8m or above for installation over a dining table or in an entrance hall. The 600mm sphere diameter means it needs clearance around it — avoid narrow hallways under 1.2m wide.

How is the crystal attached?

Each octagon crystal is individually wired onto the metal ring framework. The crystals are removable for cleaning or replacement if damaged, though removal requires careful handling to avoid bending the wire loops.
