Description

The Ava is a 300mm spherical crystal pendant built from a lattice of polished chrome rings, each holding octagon-cut clear crystals that cover the entire surface of the sphere. Five G9 bulbs sit inside the lattice (bulbs sold separately, max 33W each), casting light outward through the dense crystal structure and generating multi-directional reflections across the faceted surfaces.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and entrance halls, the Ava pairs well with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above where the 350-1450mm adjustable drop allows the pendant to be positioned 700-900mm above a table or worktop. The 300mm diameter makes it suitable for smaller dining tables (4-seater) or as a secondary pendant over a side table or console. The polished chrome finish reflects ambient light during the day and mirrors the glow of the G9 bulbs when lit.

Each crystal is hand-set into the chrome ring framework, and the octagon cut creates eight facets per crystal that multiply light output when the bulbs are switched on. The sphere weighs 2.4kg once assembled, giving it physical presence without requiring reinforced ceiling fixings on standard UK plasterboard ceilings. The open lattice structure allows air circulation around the bulbs and prevents heat buildup, which extends bulb life compared to fully enclosed fittings.

What bulbs does the Ava take?

The Ava requires five G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. Each bulb can be up to 33W halogen or the LED equivalent (typically 3-5W LED). Most users pair this pendant with warm-white G9 LEDs at 2700K-3000K for dining and living areas.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, if you fit dimmable G9 bulbs and pair them with a compatible dimmer switch. Halogen G9 bulbs are inherently dimmable; LED G9 bulbs must be marked as dimmable on the packaging.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off and allow the bulbs to cool completely. Wipe each crystal gently with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the chrome frame or using spray cleaners, as residue can dull the crystal facets.

What size dining table does it suit?

The 300mm diameter works best over 4-seater dining tables (up to 1200mm long) or as accent lighting over console tables and side tables. For larger dining tables, consider pairing two Ava pendants or using a larger pendant from the Diyas range.
