Description

The Ava is a 510mm crystal sphere table lamp built around a 250mm globe of clear octagon crystals set into precision metal rings on a polished chrome frame. Three G9 bulbs inside the sphere (sold separately) cast light through the dense crystal coverage, creating refracted brilliance across the faceted surfaces. The polished chrome stem extends from a weighted circular base to support the crystal assembly.

Designed for consoles, side tables, bedside positions and occasional tables in living rooms and bedrooms, the Ava combines ambient and decorative function. The 250mm diameter suits narrower surfaces where a full pendant or chandelier would overwhelm the space, while still providing enough crystal surface area to act as a light sculpture when lit. The 510mm total height positions the sphere at eye level when seated, making the lamp a visual anchor in the room.

Each crystal is hand-assembled onto the metal ring structure, with the octagon cut creating multiple facets that catch and redirect light in different directions depending on viewing angle. The density of the crystal coverage means there are minimal gaps between individual stones, giving the sphere a unified glowing appearance when the bulbs are on. The polished chrome finish on the base and stem provides a high-reflectivity surface that mirrors the surrounding room and adds to the overall brightness of the lamp. At 3.3kg the lamp has enough weight to remain stable on most table surfaces without requiring additional anchoring.

What bulbs does the Ava take?

The lamp uses three G9 capsule bulbs, each up to 33W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. The specification notes the lamp is not LED/CFL compatible, so halogen G9 bulbs are required. Most users pair this with 25W or 33W warm-white halogen capsules.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable halogen G9 bulbs and paired with a suitable dimmer switch rated for halogen loads. The chrome base houses standard UK 3-pin plug wiring, so the dimmer would need to be an inline or wall-mounted model compatible with the lamp circuit.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch the lamp off and allow bulbs to cool fully. Use a dry microfibre cloth to wipe individual crystals, working in sections around the sphere. For heavier dust buildup, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable, but avoid soaking the metal frame or getting moisture into the bulb sockets. Do not use chemical sprays or polishes on the crystals.

What surface size does it need?

The chrome base is circular with a footprint of approximately 150-180mm diameter. The lamp is stable on console tables, side tables and bedside units with a surface depth of at least 300mm, allowing clearance behind the sphere and in front of the base for safe positioning.
