Description
This AV:Link HDMI lead uses active fibre optic (AOC) technology to carry the signal, which lets it run over much longer distances than a standard copper cable without the picture breaking up. At 20m, that makes it a good fit for wall or ceiling runs to a projector, or for connecting kit that sits some way from your screen. The cable measures just 4.8mm across, so it stays flexible and is easier to route through conduit or behind walls than a thicker lead.
It supports video resolutions up to 8K Ultra High Definition at 60Hz, with video bandwidth up to 48Gb/s. The lead is built to the HDMI 2.1 standard and is HDCP 2.2 compliant, so it will pass protected 4K and 8K content from sources such as UHD players, games consoles and streaming boxes. Because it is a directional active cable, check the source and display ends are connected the right way round during installation.
The connectors sit in slim alloy headshells that measure only 19mm wide and 9mm high, with gold plated contacts to help keep the connection reliable. The compact plugs make it easier to fit the lead into tight spaces or through smaller cable channels. As an active optical cable, it draws a small amount of power from the HDMI port to drive the signal, so no separate power supply is needed.

Frequently Asked
What resolution does this lead support?
It supports video up to 8K Ultra High Definition (7680 x 4320p) at 60Hz, with bandwidth up to 48Gb/s.
Is it directional?
Yes. As an active fibre optic cable it has a source end and a display end. Connect the marked ends the correct way round for it to work.
Why choose fibre optic over a copper HDMI cable?
Fibre optic carries the signal over much longer distances without degradation, which copper cables struggle with at 8K over 20m.
Does it need a power supply?
No. It takes the small amount of power it needs from the HDMI port, so there is no external supply to connect.
Will it pass protected content?
Yes. The lead is HDCP 2.2 compliant, so it will pass protected 4K and 8K content from compatible sources.
How thick is the cable?
The outer diameter is 4.8mm, which keeps it flexible and easier to route over long runs.
