This AV:Link fibre optic HDMI lead (called an HDMI cable in the US) carries the signal over light rather than copper, which means you can run it over much longer distances without the signal degrading the way it can with standard cables. It supports video resolutions up to 8K Ultra High Definition at 60Hz, with a video bandwidth of up to 48Gb/s and full HDMI 2.1 compatibility, so it handles current formats and leaves headroom for future kit. HDCP 2.2 compliance is included as standard.

The lead is built with installers in mind. One end has a detachable plug that, once removed, reveals a Micro HDMI connector with a reduced diameter. That means you only need to drill a 12mm hole to pass the cable through a wall or cabinet, rather than a much larger one to fit a full-size head. When you refit the plug, push it firmly and fully back into place to keep the connection secure. The Micro HDMI end is also handy for connecting smaller devices such as a Raspberry Pi, camcorders and tablets.

The head shells are made from alloy with gold plated connectors, and the fibre optic cable has a slim 4.8mm outer diameter. That keeps the run flexible and easy to route through tight spaces while holding signal quality across the full 10m length. The 4.8mm cable is well suited to longer distances where a thicker, less flexible lead would be awkward to install.
